Omg where to begin.. so much is going on at NYC Mafia land and I dont even know where to begin. First off, The Mafia is undergoing some HUUUUUUUUGE changes and undergoing a total revamp. So please bare with us as we continue to try to bring the NYC Craft Scene to you live and in color!! Also as you will read, all of us have been super busy with our individual companies so our absense here on the blogs havent been without good reason! So without further adeu here are some updates in NYC Craft Mafia land...

Ghost Girl's Rest in Popularity book by Tonya Hurley releases August 1! This is such a cute book for the tween in your life! Our very own craft mafiosa, Veronica Soto of Qassa (www. qassa. com) was comissioned to do the promotional prayer candles for the book and they are SUUUUPER cute!

Also, in more NYC Craft Mafia news, the NYC Craft Mafia invites you to join Craftybytes, the worlds most comprehensive craft networking site, founded by two members of the NYC Craft Mafia, Nikki Smith, and Jessica Beland (however all of our Mafiosas are playing a HUUUGE role in this, so really its more of a group effort!). We are due to officially launch in August (god willing) but as a friend we invite you to be among the first to join us and urge you to begin using all of the great features the site has to offer. This site was developed FOR crafters by crafters.

We have created searchable calendars of craft events, profiles with working jukeboxes, individual group forums for you and your crafty friends, tutorials, blogs, book reviews and news are all in one happy crafty place! Jumping on a band wagon is no easy thing for my imaginary boyfriend. The boyfriend and I both have a bit of the Emersonian streak in us tending to "march to the beat of our own drummer" rather than follow a crowd. This trait has served us well at times(we've both managed to steer clear of any cults) and not so well at others (we just couldn't manage to involve ourselves in the likes of Lost, 24, or Prison Break even though we have, on really good authority, heard that these are really awesome shows).

Anyway. . . long, babbling story short, my imaginary boyfriend and I have finally started a blog! Welcome to the 21st century MIBF! Business Plan Brunch

So, its a little last minute to post this but...

We're going to have a brainstorming session on business plans over some good grub on Saturday, January 6 at 11am.

If you need to start a business plan or if you already have one that just needs an update for the new year, this is for you. We'll be doing exercises from a few books on writing your business plan, helping each other get started on or fine tune our plans, and possibly even have some experienced business-ladies attending to share their knowlege.

This will be the first session of several, but its a good place to get started!

OH and in other news: we wanted to announce the new look and functionality of the NYC Craft Mafia webpage and message board! We had a great day, and loved meeting all of you... even when we were closer to you than we really wanted to be.

The New York City Craft Mafia exists to support local crafters in their personal and professional crafting endeavors. We are proud to be included in a larger Craft Mafia family, founded in 2003 by the original glue-gun packing mafiosas, the Austin Craft Mafia.

Though we started with a small group in the summer of 2006, we aspire to bigger and better things, such as helping our crafters with e-commerce, craft fairs, hosting craft-along sessions and lessons, and otherwise getting involved in our community. Our members have a shared love of creative expression through crafting, and look forward to sharing our handiwork with all of NYC!

The Big Apple better watch out - the NYC Craft Mafia runs the crafting in this town!
